Reasons Why You Should Travel to Brisbane
Brisbane is a great place to visit, featuring friendly people and beautiful surroundings. For budget-conscious travelers, it is also less expensive than Sydney and Melbourne.
I've visited Brisbane twice and stayed for a total of 18 months. Without a doubt, Brisbane is the best destination to visit. Whenever I meet new people, I always recommend a trip to Brisbane. Described as Australia's most amazing and hippest metropolis by the travel guide Lonely Planet, Brisbane is a rising star. You shouldn't miss out on such a fantastic destination. In my opinion, Brisbane is worth visiting at least once in your lifetime, and here's why.
Reasons to Visit Brisbane Right Now
You'll Meet Incredible People
When I browse through my Facebook friends, I notice that I have more friends from Brisbane than from my own country. The locals are naturally warm and kind. The hospitality here is unparalleled when compared to the rest of the world. You'll also make numerous international friends from around the globe. Don't be shy; you'll be greeted with cheerful smiles and warm welcomes wherever you go. Simply put, I love the people here!
Beaches and Islands in Paradise
The area is a slice of heaven on Earth, and I'm not exaggerating. Few beaches in the world can compare to those here. The city is about an hour's drive from Surfers Paradise, which, while not the best beach, is one of the most well-known. Moreton Island, the world's third-largest sand island, is only 35 kilometers from the East Coast. Snorkeling around the shipwrecks is an unforgettable experience. If you prefer something more laid-back, head to South Bank Street Beach to soak up the sun. How convenient is it to have a beach right in the heart of the city? Just don't forget to apply sunscreen before heading out.
Climate and Weather
The annual average temperature is 26.6°C, making any time of year a delightful time to visit Brisbane. While Europe might be experiencing sub-zero temperatures, Brisbane is enjoying warmth!
Food, Glorious Food
Dining out in Brisbane is a unique experience, especially for Asian food lovers like myself. Sunnybank is a gastronomic paradise featuring great dim sum, smoked pork, and bubble tea. Restaurants like Little Lamb Happy Ranch, Madtongsan, and Pancake Manor are must-tries.
Festivals and Culture
If you happen to be passing through Brisbane on your way to the Gold Coast, be sure to explore the city's Cultural Precinct on the South Bank. Here, you'll find the Queensland Museum, Queensland Art Galleries, Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and the Science Centre—all of which can be experienced in just 24 hours. Throughout the year, the city hosts numerous events such as the Brisbane Festival, Spring Flare Festivals, Oktoberfest, and New Year's Eve celebrations. There's a simple reason you should attend— you'll never be bored!
A Healthy Way of Life
Although there might not be traditional tourist attractions promoting it, you can get a feel for the city by exploring it like a local. Kayaking on the Brisbane River at Riverlife offers a unique experience. Not a fan of water sports? You also have the options of Segway tours, cycling, and rollerblading. Rock climbing at Kangaroo Point might seem daunting, but it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Just be prepared to push your limits, and don't worry, skilled instructors will guide you every step of the way.
